Export and import

PDF lists for your insurance, PDF catalogues, CSV tables, and pieces brought in from a spreadsheet.

Export: the insurance list, the catalogue, and the spreadsheet, with the collections that are included.

Export

Choose Export where you are: in the ⋯ menu of the Collections tab for everything, in the ⋯ menu of a collection, on a piece's page, or in a piece's quick menu.

  1. Choose a template: Insurance list (a PDF list), Catalogue (a PDF catalogue with photos), or Spreadsheet (a CSV table for Numbers or Excel).
  2. Under Included, tap a collection to leave it out, with everything in it.
  3. Tap Create PDF or Create CSV, then Preview or Share.

PDF and CSV files are not encrypted: anyone who gets one can read it. Share them only with people you trust. Kuriosa deletes its copy when you close the share screen.

Sensitive fields

Sensitive fields such as serial numbers are left out of every export. To include them for one file, turn on Include sensitive fields, confirm the warning, and unlock with Face ID or your passcode. Kuriosa asks every time.

Your own templates

New template makes an export template of your own: choose its format, add columns with Add column, and touch and hold a column to move it. The ⋯ next to a template offers Edit or Copy and edit.

PDF lists and catalogues come with Kuriosa Unlimited. CSV tables are free.

Import from a spreadsheet

You can bring pieces into a collection from a table, for example from Numbers or Excel.

  1. Open the collection, tap ⋯, and choose Import from CSV ….
  2. Under Example file, tap Share example file: it has one column for each field of this collection and a sample row. Fill it in and save it as CSV.
  3. Tap Choose file and choose your file.
  4. Columns are matched to the fields by their names, in all five languages. Tap a column to choose what it fills in, or Skip. One column must hold the names.
  5. Check the preview, then tap Import 12 pieces.

The whole import is one step in Activity: Undo takes every piece out again.

  • Photos and files are not imported.
  • Sensitive fields are imported and stay hidden.
  • Rows that cannot be read are listed and left out whole; correct them in the file and choose it again, or import the others.
  • Places and tags that do not exist yet are created.
  • The free version holds up to 25 pieces.
