Search and scan

Find any piece by any field, and open it by scanning its label, its barcode, or its number.

The Search tab looks through names, notes, and every field, serial and reference numbers included, in all collections and on the wishlist. It answers the collector's question before a purchase: Do I already own this?

  • Type a part of what you are looking for, for example a reference number.
  • The chips under the field narrow the search: All, Favorites, one collection with its sub-collections, or the Wishlist.
  • With Favorites chosen, Search lists all your favorites without typing.
  • A number such as "K-0007", or only "7", finds the piece with that inventory number.

While privacy mode is on, sensitive fields are not searched.

Scan

The scan button at the top left of every tab opens the camera. Point it at:

  • a Kuriosa label: its piece or its place opens at once;
  • a barcode or QR code you linked to a piece, such as the code on a box or a certificate;
  • an inventory number like K-0001, printed on a label or written on a tag.

If the camera cannot be used, type the code or the number in the field below it and tap Go.

A Kuriosa label also opens with the iPhone's own camera: point it at the code and tap the link that appears.

Many pieces already have a code, for example on their box. To open a piece by that code:

  1. On the piece's page, under Codes, tap Link a code.
  2. Point the camera at the code, or type it.

When you scan a code that belongs to no piece yet, Kuriosa offers Link to an item.

Inventory numbers

Every piece gets a running number, K-0001, K-0002, and so on, shown under its name. A number is never given twice, not even after a piece is deleted. It is printed under the code of every QR label, and it is the first column of a spreadsheet export.
